My Story

My original background was as part of the editorial team for a national magazine, which enabled me to develop skills as a creative writer and researcher. These are all skills which are so useful in planning, writing and delivering talks, tributes and Eulogies.

I have been in leadership at The Community Church, a Christian church in Stapenhill, Burton on Trent, for over 20 years. The Community Church is part of the Pioneer Network of churches and during 2016-2018 I completed the Pioneer Pathway to Ordination.

Originally from Leicester, I have lived in Burton for 24 years, and as well as working as a Church Minister, I am also a wife, a mother and a step-mum.

In 2015 my father was very suddenly diagnosed with a form of Leukaemia which quickly resulted in his untimely death. As a result, I was catapulted into a world of grief and trauma that I had never experienced before. The shock was unbearable but it was through this experience, and the journey of coming to terms with such heartbreak, that I became even more passionate about walking with others who are experiencing grief and this led me to becoming a Funeral Celebrant.

I consider it a special privilege to be able to comfort those who also find themselves dealing with the many emotions and challenges caused by the death of someone close to them.

“If it’s not inappropriate to say this, that was the best funeral I’ve ever been to.”
